OPOMBE | This paper was made as a part of the research project "Price mechanismus of transitional economies" (J5-7774), financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Republic of Slovenia // Bibliografija: str. 26-27 // One of the basic conditions of efficient operation of economic policy is the knowledge of specific mechanisms through which its measures are transmitted into the economy. Therefore, thepossible ways and effects of monetary policy have become important at the outset of an independent central bank in Slovenia. Various econometric techniques are applied in this paper to find out the relation between the monetary and the real sector in Slovenian economy. Although there exist several discrepancies among the results, it may be concluded that money is an endogenous variable compared to activity in Slovenia. At the same time, the results comply with the monetarist view that money may cause expansion of activity in the short run, but may cause an accelaration of inflation inlonger time period. Partial restriction in the Slovenian capital account are also favoured by the model of simultaneous regression equations. |
