KRATKA VSEBINA | Today, the exchange of medical images betwen various physicians is taken for granted. But it wasn't always so. Only two decades ago, exchange of such images was difficult at best. Unless medical institutions owned identical sets of imaging machines, sharing medical images electronicaly proved to be very limited. In this paper, we present the DICOM standard, which is one of the world's leading standards for medical information exchange, particulary the exchange of medical images. We continue our journey with the description of data compression algorithms. All the algorithms achive lossless compression rates, which aretypicaly well over 65%. At the end, we present the application Dr. DICOM, which contains all the developed algorithms and procedures. Due to application's sucsesful compression rates, we have also developed a web page, with which we wish to present Dr. DICOM to a much broader audience. We firmly belive that the application has a high future-development potential and that it would contribute towards a better and more efficient long-term storage of medical data. // Izmenjava medicinskih slik je danes nekaj povsem sainounmevnega, vendar temu ni bilo vedno tako. Pred dvemi desetletji je bila izmenjava takih slik zelo težavna. Nekoliko lažje je bilo le, v kolikor so si zdravstvene ustanove lastile enake naprave. V tehniškem poročilu predstavimo standard DICOM, enega od vodilnih svetovnih standardov za izmenjavo medicinskih podatkov, predvsem medicinskih slik. Nadaljujemo z opisom algoritmov stiskanja podatkov. Vsi algoritmi so brezizgubni in dosegajo visoko stopnjo stiskanja, v povprečju okoli 65%. Nakoncu predstavimo še aplikacijo Dr. DICOM, ki skozi prijazen uporabniški vmesnik omogoča uporabo vseh razvitih algoritmov. Zaradi visoke uspešnost stiskanja smo razvili tudi spletno stran, preko katere želimo predstaviti aplikacijo Dr. DICOM širšemu občinstvu. Prepričani smo, da je aplikacija primerna za nadaljnji razvoj, s čimer bi prispevali k boljšemu in učinkovitejšemu trajnemu shranjevanju medicinskih podatkov. |
